Emerald City Theatre School Schedule
At Emerald City Theatre we love to have fun! And we know that children who participate in theater have greater self-confidence, improved literacy and math skills and greater problem solving skills. In Session 2, we put more emphasis on the fun of getting ready for a performance. The 14 weeks are spent preparing for a final show right on the Apollo Theater Mainstage on June 7th!

Session II - Class Descriptions
Fairies, Wizards, and Magic
Age 3.5-5
This imaginative class encourages children to explore the basics of storytelling, including conflict, character, and setting. Emerald City’s production of A Fairy Tale Life exploring Hans Christian Anderson’s works will provide the inspiration for this movement and ensemble building session. A magic workshop will round out the class. Students will present their own unique fairy tale on the last day of class!
Power Rangers!
Age 3.5-5
Unleash your powerful super heroes in this energetic class! If your child loves to explore their superhuman strengths, elasticity, and teamwork then they’ll love our Power Ranger inspired class! Actors will embark on a journey with Emerald City as they develop their very own super heroes, fight crime, and discover inner strengths. Our inspiration will be the Power Rangers, Wonder Woman, and many other favorites. So head to Emerald City and learn how to morph into a powerful actor!
TRIPLE THREAT: Level 1
Age 5-8
Is your child looking to sample a little bit of everything? Explore a wide range of theatrical disciplines such as musical theatre, improv, and acting in one of Emerald City’s most popular classes. On the last day, you’ll get the chance to show off all of your triple threat skills!
TRIPLE THREAT: Level 2
Age 5-8
Want to take your Triple Threat skills to the next level? This class will build upon the triple threat techniques you learned this fall. Continue to grow as an actor, singer, and improviser, and now we’re also adding in writing! You’ll get to show off your all of your triple threat skills in the final recital! This class is intended for students who have taken Triple Threat with Emerald City or have taken at least one theatre class.
Tappy Feet TAP Workshop - $100 for 7 weeks!
Age 5-8
Help your child find his or her tappy feet! This class teaches the fundamentals of tap dance - structure, rhythm, movement and basic steps - in the context of two great American musicals: Happy Feet and the classic 42nd Street. Give your child an opportunity to "sound off", improve their musicality, and participate in an American dance tradition rooted in African and Irish cultures. Contact Leo's Dancewear to purchase a pair of tap shoes that your child needs for the course, and help them tap into their potential!

Musical Theatre: Level 1
Age 7-10
Emerald City's hottest class is back! Students will get the opportunity to learn songs, choreography, and scenes from Disney's hit movies, High School Musical, Aladdin, and a student pick! Work with Emerald City's theatre professionals on voice and diction, improvisation, singing, and dancing for the full professional experience.
Musical Theatre: Level 2
Age 7-10
Continue your musical theatre journey and build upon the basics you learned this Fall! Students will get the opportunity to learn songs and scenes from Broadway’s hit shows, Wicked, Grease, and Hairspray! Work with Emerald City’s theatre professionals on voice and diction, improvisation, singing, and dancing for the full professional experience. This class is intended for students who have taken Musical Theatre with Emerald City or have taken at least one theatre class.

Theatre School Helpful Info
- Tuition: all classes $195-210 for each 14-week session, $100 for each 7-week session.
- All classes are 45 minutes for 3.5 - 5 and 5-8 year old classes, and 1 hour for 7-10 year old classes.
- Classes at The Emerald City Theatre School (2933 N. Southport).
- Street parking at Theatre School or use a self pay lot across the street.
- Visit from an Emerald City actor each class session.
- Final Class Performance for family and friends.
- Free Parent Workshop - on the first day of class find out what your child will be learning and how you can contribute at home.
