Emerald City Theatre School is proud to offer our critically acclaimed summer camps for 3.5 – 12 year olds! Step into a world of creative play and fantastical journeys as campers use their imaginations to discover new characters, locations, and even write their own dialogue. This is one inspiring and fun summer you won’t want to miss!

For Ages 3.5 – 5 year olds, 1 week, 9am-12pm OR 1-4pm, $225, @ The Theatre School

June 7-11
PRINCESS & KNIGHT BOOT CAMP

Embark on a magical journey where dragons, princesses, and magical creatures live! We will create our own fantasy world, incorporating real and fantastical creatures. Campers will explore character development and participate in acting and storytelling activities that arouse curiosity and stir the imagination. On the final day, campers will present their very own unique fantasy world.

June 14 - 18
FAIRY TALE MAGIC

This imaginative camp encourages children to explore the basics of storytelling, including conflict, character, and setting. Popular Fairy Tales will provide the inspiration for this movement and ensemble building session. Students will present their own unique fairy tale on the last day of class!

June 21-25
SEUSSVILLE

Students will travel into the magical land of Dr. Seuss and his powerful stories! Our inspiration for the camp will be beloved classics from Dr. Seuss including Cat in The Hat and Green Eggs and Ham. We will create our own Seuss inspired world, incorporating real and fantastical creatures. Students will explore character development and participate in acting and storytelling activities that arouse curiosity and stir the imagination. Our games will enhance self-esteem and create a sense of personal well being and enjoyment. This class is perfect for both shy and outgoing children!

June 28 – July 2
SUPERHEROES

Here is a theater camp that will build on imaginative storytelling escapades for small people with heroic minds. We will be building magic capes that harbor special powers. We will think-tank an idea every day and then act out variations on them using story building techniques. There will be lots of theater games, stretches, and movement. This is a physical theater class that is a great starter class for young beginners.

July 5-9
WORLD OF SHEL SILVERSTEIN

Students will dive into the hilarious and wildly popular poetry of Shel Silverstein by exploring characters in Where the Sidewalk Ends, The Giving Tree, and more! This imaginative class will provide inspiration for movement, music, setting and an ensemble building experience. Students will share their stories with family and friends on the last day of camp.

July 12-16
PIRATES AND MERMAIDS

Ahoy Matey! If your child loves to explore life above and below the high seas, they’ll love our swash buckling Pirate and Mermaids camp! Actors will embark on a journey with Emerald City, as they develop their very own pirate and mermaid characters, solve treasure hunts, and crack secret codes. Our inspiration will be Melinda Long's award winning book, "How I Became A Pirate" and Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”. So walk the plank straight over to Emerald City for an experience you won't forget!

July 19-23
OUTER SPACE ADVENTURES

Brave explorers can journey into outer space with our dynamic teaching professionals in this fun and exploratory camp! The solar system, space travel, and daring astronauts will be the inspiration for our acting exercises and art projects. Work with fellow campers on true teamwork and confidence building skills. This class will culminate with a performance for family and friends.

July 26 - 30
UNDER THE SEA

Travel to a world deep under the sea where amazing creatures like the great white shark and the mighty Octopus rule the waters! Take on a variety of creatures like your very own Giant Squid or Mermaid, as you investigate and inhabit deep waters in this adventurous 1week camp. Campers will explore characters though lots of physical movement, song and dance, and a variety of Under the Sea themed theatre games. All young explorers will show off their hard work on the last day of camp!

Aug. 2-6
DESTINATION: KIDSVILLE!

In Kidsville, the town is completely run by kids! Campers will create their own town, pick their own jobs, and have adventures galore. Inspired by SimCity and Farmville, campers will work together to solve an exciting challenge each day, such as creating a new play for the President, communicating with aliens that land in the city, helping grow food for those that need it, and much more! A unique, exciting city will be revealed at the final performance for family and friends.

August 9-13
WIZARD OF OZ

We are off to see the Wizard! This is a fantastic opportunity for campers to travel to the magical land of Oz. Here we will explore lots of character work, improv, and many Oz related theater games, such as Wizard Wants a Corner, The Wizard Says, and Who Am I? We will explore sensory work, both physical and vocal, as relates to the world of Oz. Campers will present their own unique Oz games and exercises on the last day of camp!

ENCHANTED MUSICAL FOREST

Introduce your favorite young singer to the magical world of musical theatre. Embark on a journey of songs from enchanted shows like Into The Woods, Cinderella, Peter Pan and more! Our professionals will teach students the basics of singing techniques, along with lots of fun musical instruments.

August 16-20

POP MUSICALS

Pop musicals are all the rage! This jumpin’ musical theatre class will teach students songs, choreography, and scenes from shows like Legally Blonde, Billy Elliot, Shrek, and more! Work with Emerald City’s theatre professionals on scene study, voice and diction, improvisation, singing, and dancing for the full professional experience. Campers will present their songs at the final recital!

July 5 – 16
FAIRY TALE MUSICALS

Does your child love enchanting musicals like Into The Woods, Wicked, and Beauty and The Beast? Students will get the opportunity to learn songs, choreography, and scenes from a variety of these favorite musicals and more! Work with Emerald City’s theatre professionals on scene study, voice and diction, improvisation, singing, and dancing for the full professional experience. Campers will present their songs on the last day of camp!

JULY 19 - 30
OZ MUSICALS

Follow the yellow brick road through the two greatest OZ musicals of all time! This magical camp will focus on exploring the Emerald City by learning selections from both the Wizard of OZ and Wicked. Work with Emerald City’s theatre professionals on scene study, voice and diction, improvisation, singing, and dancing for the full professional experience. Students will present their pieces at the final recital!

JUKEBOX MUSICAL THEATRE

Rock n’ Roll musicals are all the rage! This jumpin’ musical theatre class will teach students songs, choreography, and scenes from shows like Mamma Mia!, Grease, Hairspray, and more! Work with Emerald City’s theatre professionals on scene study, voice and diction, improvisation, singing, and dancing for the full professional experience. COMEDIC MUSICAL THEATRE

Does your child love to laugh and sing? This hot class will focus on songs and scenes from hilarious musicals such as Bye, Bye Birdie, Mary Poppins, and You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. Students will get the opportunity to learn songs, choreography, and scenes from a variety of these favorite musicals and more! Work with Emerald City’s theatre professionals on scene study, voice and diction, improvisation, singing, and dancing for the full professional experience. This showcase will be based on the classic musical Sound of Music! Embark on a full theatrical experience, directed by Emerald City’s finest. This class is intended for the student that would like to take their theatre experience to the next level. Campers will present their show on the final day of class.

Youth Ensemble: WICKED

Emerald City’s Youth Ensembles get the opportunity to work on an actual Emerald City script that you may have recently seen on our stages! This showcase will be based on the hit musical Wicked! Embark on a full theatrical experience, directed by Emerald City’s finest. This class is intended for the student that would like to take their theatre experience to the next level. Campers will present their show on the final day of class.

Youth Ensemble: WILLY WONKA

Emerald City’s Youth Ensembles get the opportunity to work on an actual Emerald City script that you may have recently seen on our stages! This showcase will be based on the original movie musical Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! Embark on a full theatrical experience, directed by Emerald City’s finest. This class is intended for the student that would like to take their theatre experience to the next level. Campers will present their show on the final day of class.

Youth Ensemble: SEUSSICAL

Emerald City’s Youth Ensembles get the opportunity to work on an actual Emerald City script that you may have recently seen on our stages! This showcase will be based on the wacky musical Seussical, based on the stories of Dr. Seuss! Embark on a full theatrical experience, directed by Emerald City’s finest. Youth Ensemble: GLEE CLUB

Emerald City’s Youth Ensembles get the opportunity to work on an actual Emerald City script that you may have recently seen on our stages! This showcase will be based on the soundtrack of songs from the hit TV show GLEE, such as Don’t Stop Believin’, Proud Mary and Lean on Me! Embark on a full theatrical experience, directed by Emerald City’s finest. This class is intended for the student that would like to take their theatre experience to the next level. Enrollment for all camps starts Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 10:00am.

Full payment is due at time of enrollment.

Emerald City has the right to cancel a class one week prior to the start date. Refunds will be processed if a class is cancelled. No refunds available unless spot can be filled from the waiting list. If spot can be filled a refund less a $50 administrative fee will be given.
